The ball rolls to his feet nicely. One foot back, cushion in nicely.... and the ball was at his feet.
Taking a quick look, he sees his teammate running down the flank. All part of the coach's plan... As what the coach predicted, he saw the opening.
'Pass the ball once u see him running. The space will be there.'
Simple instruction. He knew he could do it. The mind and body started to work in unison. Push the ball forward, step up to it, swing the leg back, aim abit to the front of the running man, time the pass, hit the ball with the side of the foot and follow through.
'Easy... I can do this,' he thought
Suddenly, his body froze. Even though he practiced passes a thousand times during training, he suddenly felt fear set it....
'I'm not gonna make it. I cant make the pass, the ball's not gonna make it to him...'
And fear leads to doubt...
'Should i even pass it? It's all part of the plan isnt it? What if I misunderstood the plan?'
And hence the 'what if's' set in...
