The Beautiful Game
An art film about football (never thought it existed) ... a film on the 90 minutes of a single football game in which the cameras never once panned away from Zidane. Some might not appreciate it, but it really is breathtaking to see a game through the eyes of a magician. His movements are like clockwork, not one too many. Efficiency. He never looses possession of the ball.He doesn't waste unnecessary energy on tricks, just plain simple passing and running. Yet everything about it seems so graceful... The way he weaves through the defence as though he's untouchable. The moving into space, the seemingly impeccable first touch... The film captures his emotions, the focused and silent player on the pitch who yet can suddenly explode into a hotheaded confrontational creature....
I think my exorbitantly expensive movie ticket was worth it. A really different perspective into football. Certainly there wasn't alot of action, but to see HOW a player like Zidane plays really is beautiful.

Waterbound
Looking at the sea sets my mind thinking. Just staring at the seemingly endless ocean, listening to the waves, enjoying the sea breeze…
I always had a penchant for water. The source of all physical life.
Just hanging on the inside of the swimming pool…. I could do that for hours. Just staying in the water, floating around in the seemingly weightlessness, the feeling of wet hair and skin…
I only wish that the pool at my place opens at night. There is nothing like a night soak… Well that’s just insight to me.
Genome Science...
Well, I have concluded that everyone's own subject seems the most difficult to them. So no point whining.
Just do your best, and let the Lord do the rest... That's what my dad told me when I was a kid. hehz

Put to death.
No I didn't draw this.Sometimes I just wished that stupid negative, selfish thoughts from the old self would just GO AWAY... The endless bombardment... Vindicate me from the endless battle that goes on in my mind please....
Yet somehow, I know not to pray for an easier task, but to be stronger... Victory has already been won. Stand firm and look to Him.
Lead me not into temptation,
but deliver me from the evil one...

Blackout
The whole building had a blackout just now. In other words, the lift was not functioning. I actually intended on walking up 23 flights of stairs but standing on the ground floor and just staring all the way up, I totally gave up.
Homecell was good and it's just great to hear people open up and share. It's really encouraging to hear and to see people learning (hopefully). LTC starts soon. Really expecting to see what will happen this semester.
I don't really feel like playing soccer all of a sudden. Another early morning just seems so unappealing... Sigh.Wednesday, March 21

'Are you for us or for our enemies?'
Pray not that God is on our side, but that we are on His side.
That's what prayer is: not asking God to do what we want, but doing what He wants. Be humbled, be heartened, be prayerful.

Amazing.
More little tidbits: I was on a semisortof whiny mode because I initially wouldn't be able to play in the futsal tournament this Saturday at Hobson's Bay. After hearing the piece of good news, I just went into a time of praise and prayer.
Next thing i knew, comm meeting was postponed and there's even a free bbq on the 24th now. hahaha. wow!
Blessed would be an understatement

Having most classes at 8 in the morning is starting to take its toll on me. The addiction to coffee to starting to set in... I am desperately trying to maintain my level of attentiveness in class. Simply zombiefied without coffee.
The internet is STILL down. Simply irritating. It was up for a few minutes last night, but it just suddenly died on me.
Struggling with Bioinformatics. Simply clueless about it. The irony of it is, I desperately need internet to revise/study this subject, but obviously thats not happening for a while.
OH WELLS.

Making Sense of Things... AGAIN
Arise, shine. What does it mean to arise and shine? It starts with individuals, deep inside their hearts. Just taking that initial step of relinquishing control, changing of perspective that we are His, and that we don't live for ourselves anymore?
Wasn't that the reason why I joined C in the first place? haha it just comes back to me. Counting the cost of being a disciple, seeing loving obedience in the people. I do believe in seeing people around me saved but even more than that, I believe that God is going to use his children to do that.
Just random rantings... It's a partnership, we have our part to play in this as well.

Strangely enough, I have a book entitled The Discipline of Grace lying in my cupboard. Should get down to reading it....

Thanksgiving
Prayer, thanksgiving and consecration are all inseparably linked together....
Where ever there is true prayer, there thanksgiving and gratitude stand by, ready to respond to the answer when it comes. As prayer brings the answer, so the answer brings forth gratitude and praise. As prayer sets God to work, so answered prayer sets thanksgiving to work. Thanksgiving follows answered prayer as day succeeds night. True prayer and gratitude lead to full consecration, and consecration leads to more praying and better praying. A consecrated life is a life of both prayer and thanksgiving.
Amen...

Playing God
The so called 'The Book of Life' is in our hands. We have unraveled the the whole genome sequence of humans and maybe in a few years time, just for a mere 1000$, one can just sequence his whole genome. Big implications we have there...
I reckon it'll be time soon enough when I have to make that stand with regards to what I'm studying and what I believe in. Does Science and Religion really can't coexist?

Scary...
I think the best thing to ask for really is love. Perfect love casts out all fears, it casts out all sins, and love never fails.
Be quick... please.... Prolonging this wont do any good to anyone.

Science Student Speak (SSS)
The beauty and complexity of creation. I guess rather than trying to rationalise it and dissecting it into fragments to understand. It's more important to appreciate the beauty of the world (or what's left of it) and the hand behind the creation.
It's funny, now that i live on the 23rd floor and have a view of the whole city, sometimes I just realise how BIG this world is and how small I am in this world. Yet on the other token, just knowing that a sinner like me matters to God, and that there is the HS residing in me sometimes is just so 'wow'. Unexplainable.
Challenges coming my way? Specifically for myself, I guess the whole thing about 'not praying what people want to hear' but praying things God wants to hear. Especially in a corporate setting and on a very frequent basis. The trap is always there and I guess I just have to be very careful.
Hmmmz... I realise that on personal basis, I don't have a whole lot of great and absolutely exciting revelations. For me its more like knowing God through the simple things, about common ground made holy and living in His presence daily. The little things that comfort.
Where is my passion? I would rather be a strong, steadily burning flame, than a short-lived raging bonfire...
Monday, March 5
Gratitude.
His favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
I have no particular idea why, but I have been meditating Psalm 30 over the past few days. how many times have I been rescued from the pits? I think countless.
That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
May I learn never to be silent when it comes to giving thanks.
+++++
On a totally side note, I just realised that my 'expected' date of return is 5/03/07 on my exit permit. I really have no idea what's going on except to just say: 'oh dear...' I'm starting to feel abit like a fugitive.

A sense of humour
Oscar Wilde once put it, ' If the Gods were to play with us, they would answer all our prayers'. There is a time and place for everything, even answered prayers. Sometimes, a NO is given and trust me, I am still learning to deal with that.

Have you ever fallen in love? The initial sugar rush. The giving of flowers and candy, just wanting to go out with the other person. Talking and spending time with that person, just wanting to know as much as possible about the other party in the short time you are together with him/her.
Somehow (if all goes well. haha) the relationship develops into something more than that. Sometimes you argue and disagree over things and you question each other. Friction occurs and sometimes, you just have to give in to the other party. On certain days, you question whether you really know your loved one at all, to the extent you question whether do you REALLY love him/her.
At the end of the day, you just want to sit down and do nothing with your loved one. Absolutely nothing. Where both people are comfortable with the silence and just simply enjoying each other's company. Even the thought of conversation just fades away because at that point, connection had gone beyond the level of words. It's that very moment you live for and deep down in your heart, you would never ever trade that time spent for anything else in the world....
Isn't it like that sometimes? Especially with God, when all He wants us is to revere Him and be in His presence. To be still and know that He is God. The intimacy of silence...
